What Is Powder Coating?

Powder coating is a modern and popular dry finishing process that Specialized Coatings uses on a wide range of products. It represents over 15 percent of the total industrial finishing market. More manufacturers are using powder coatings for the high-quality, durable finish, maximized production, and simpler environmental compliance.

Powder coating is available in an unlimited range of colors and textures. State-of-the-art technology delivers excellent performance. We are EPA and AQMD licensed.

How Powder Coating Works

With a polymer resin system, powder coatings are combined with curatives, pigments, and other additives. These pigments are ground into a consistency similar to flour. Application uses a process called electrostatic spray deposition delivered with a spray gun that deposits the powder. The item is put into a curing oven in which heat creates long, molecular chains of paint.

An Environmentally-Friendly Process

There are no harsh chemicals or solvents to evaporate, so powder coating has been an industry leader in green technology. Powder coating is used in thousands of applications and commonly mistaken for liquid paint.

Thanks to the long-lasting benefits and environmental value, manufacturers have used powder coating for years. Call our staff at Specialized Coatings to learn more.
